BlackarrowI think he would have been well satisfied, if he had known in 1966 that he would be the 8th man on the Moon!
onesmallstepIrwin's career and life has always been fascinating, not least of which because of his later hunt for Noah's Ark. He almost lost his leg following a plane crash in 1961, and he is one of only two astronauts to have flown aircraft in the 'Blackbird' family: Irwin the YF-12, and shuttle pilot Jim Halsell the SR-71.
